Slavia’s team won the football cup of Sofiyska Voda at the tournament for children

The small football players from Slavia won the children’s football tournament for the cup of Sofiyska Voda held on September 19th and 20th, 2011 in the Sports Sofia Complex in Borisova Gradina.  The children who took part in it were born in 1999 – 2000 and represented eight football teams from Sofia: CSKA, Lokomotiv Sofia, Slavia, Akademik, Septemvri, Lyulin, Obelya and Levski.
 
Slavia won the prize after a competitive match at the finals against the team of Septemvri with the result 4:1. The team was awarded by Lazar Kamenov, the Deputy Minister of the Physical Education and Sports. Ivo Gradev is the football coach of the champions and he also won an individual award for the best coach at the tournament.
 
Septemvri is at the second place followed by CSKA and Levski. The fifth place is for Lokomotiv Sofia, the sixth and seventh places were taken by the boys from the teams of Lyulin and Obelya, and the eight – by Akademik Sofia. All participants in the tournament were awarded with football outfits and balls.
 
The focus of the initiative of Sofiyska Voda, a part of Veolia Group, is on encouraging love for the sports. The football tournament for children is a part of the “Children and Football” national programme and it is organized for the tenth years in succession by the Association of the Bulgarian footballers with the support of Sofiyska Voda.

Sofiyska Voda celebrates Midsummer Day with Sofia citizens at the Botanical Garden

On Midsummer Day, 24 June 2011, Sofiyska Voda invited Sofia citizens at the University Botanical Garden to celebrate sun, herbs and water. Drop and Droplet welcomed the visitors in the cool garden of fragrant plants and curative herbs. Children and adults alike listened to the stories about the ancient traditional rituals on this day. Water in rivers and wells is said to be curative on Midsummer Day because the sun is said to have bathed in it.
Children looked around Grandma’s Garden of plants and herbs, asked questions and told what they knew about curative plants. Drop and Droplet gave out pure fresh Sofia water to visitors.
The celebration of Midsummer Day together with Sofia citizens at the University Botanical Garden is part of Sofiyska Voda’s policy of promoting green ideas and protecting the environment.

Sofiyska Voda supports the First National Healthy Eating Competition

On 6 June 2011, 88th Secondary School Dimitar Popnikolov in Ovcha Kupel residential quarter hosted the final stage of the First National Healthy Eating Competition, supported by Sofiyska Voda. More than 7 000 children and their parents from 15 towns in the country participated in the initiative.
Sofiyska Voda organized a celebration at the end of the Competition. The children had the opportunity to see how water is tested in a laboratory, taste healthy cocktails in the water bar and learn how important it is to drink water in order to be healthy and feel good. They also had the opportunity to win prizes from educational games which the company had prepared for them.
 
The objective of the First National Healthy Eating Competition is to introduce children to the topic of healthy eating and break down the cliché that anything healthy is tasteless.

Sofiyska Voda introduces children to the quality of potable water in Sofia

Tens of young children and teenagers gathered in Pingvinite, a bookstore in Sofia, to watch a popular science presentation called Water: Secrets and Mysteries.
Sofiyska Voda supported the event and participated with an interesting demonstration. Specialists from the Laboratory Testing Complex of the company took samples from bookstore’s potable water and tested its quality in front of the children. They tested the water’s physical and chemical parameters, such as turbidity, electrical conductivity and acidity. The analysis showed that the samples completely meet the legislative requirements.
As a socially responsible company and part of the big family of Veolia Water, Sofiyska Voda strives to establish a responsible attitude to natural resources.

Sofiyska Voda celebrated the World Water Day
22.3.2010

On 22 March Sofiyska Voda organized a celebration for children deprived of parental care from Assen Zlatarov Orphanage in Sofia. On the World Water Day the children enjoyed the educational play “Water Cycle – Travel with Drop and Droplet”. The fairytale characters spoke about water cycle and gave books, toys and cards for swimming courses.

Afterwards Drop and Droplet were at the city celebration in front of the National Theatre in Sofia and the children there also enjoyed their fairytale and had many surprises.

On 21 March 2010 there was an Open Doors Day at the Potable Water Treatment Plant in Bistritsa. Over 150 visitors became acquainted with the potable water treatment process.

The initiative for celebration of the World Water Day started in 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Ecology and Development held in Rio de Janeiro. The World Water Day has been officially celebrated since 1993 by organizing events dedicated to water every year.

Drop and Droplet gave awards

The Me and Water exhibition was held from 17th to 26th September on the Lovers’ Bridge next to the National Palace of Culture. The exhibition is part of the Sofia – with Love for Water project supported by Sofiyska Voda. The exhibition consisted of the best 50 photographs in the photo competition held on the Internet by the I Love Water association. The photographs had been selected by a jury of specialists in photography, ecology and design.

25th September, the last but one day of the exhibition, was announced as the Day of Sofiyka Voda. On this day, Drop and Droplet, the heroes of the company’s educational theatre, met children passing on the bridge.  The fairytale heroes had a lot of funny questions and surprises for children and adults.
