In 2020 Sofiyska Voda, part of Veolia, signed a 5-year memorandum for partnership with the Bulgarian innovation agency Innovation Starter and its accelerator programme for pre-seed financing.

More than 80 companies applied in the First Joint Investment call in 2021 (which was third for the accelerator) of which 6 were approved to participate in the accelerator programme and five teams successfully finished it - CW Engineering, Ridotek, InnovaOne, SatGeo и Smart Water.

Financing opportunity, technical support for idea validation and a contract for the project development was awarded to the startup SatGeo. The company develops a satellite imaging technology for leakage detection in the water supply network. The SatGeo unique technology has been proven to be highly effective during the series of field tests.

The main theme of the new joint programme of Sofiyska voda and the innovation agency is Zero Emissions. The aim is to address the climate change problems by finding startups, which will chart a Roadmap to net zero emission in Bulgaria: Boosting circular economy initiatives in the areas of water management and energy efficiency.

Thе approved teams will undergo a 3-month training on Startup management and structuring lead by the Innovation Starter experts in Sofia Tech Park. After finishing the programme they will have to pitch their ideas in front of Sofiyska Voda AD, part of Veolia Group, as the selected ideas will be validated in a real corporate environment.
